Meet Dr M.S Baboo
Dentistry has been a calling for Dr Baboo since the earliest years of training at the University of the Western Cape, where a Bachelor of Dental Surgery laid the foundation for everything that followed. That degree was only the starting point. A postgraduate diploma in implantology, also completed at UWC, deepened the clinical grounding needed for implant and grafting work, and a subsequent master's degree in lasers in dentistry, completed through RWTH Aachen in Germany, added a further, more specialised layer of training to the practice.
That international study experience left its mark in more ways than one. Time spent training in Germany fed a lasting interest in travel, and Dr Baboo still sets aside time to explore new places whenever the practice schedule allows. It is an interest that keeps the day-to-day work feeling fresh, and one small part of what shapes a practice that pays close attention to detail, whether that detail is a laser setting or the way a treatment plan is explained to a nervous first-time patient.
Today, most of the work at Braces Hub, a dentist in Newton Park, Gqeberha, centres on orthodontics, guiding patients of all ages through braces and clear aligner treatment, from the first assessment right through to the day the retainer is fitted.
Alongside that focus, Dr Baboo also provides the full range of general dental care a family needs, from fillings and crowns to dental implants, bone grafting and wisdom teeth removal. That way, Braces Hub can look after most of your family's dental needs under one roof.
Treatment Starts With
A Conversation
Every treatment plan at Braces Hub starts with a proper conversation. Before any work begins, your dentist talks through what has been found during an assessment, what the options are and what each one involves, including timeframes and what to expect at each stage.
That way, you are able to make an informed decision about your own teeth rather than being told what to do. That conversation matters just as much for a routine filling as it does for a longer course of orthodontic treatment, since both involve decisions that affect your mouth for years to come.
Braces Hub was built around orthodontics first, with the rest of the practice growing to support patients through everything else their teeth might need along the way, from a first childhood check-up to a wisdom tooth that needs attention years later.
Nervous first-time patients are common, and questions are welcomed at any point during a visit, whether that is about a procedure itself, what it might feel like, or simply how long you will be sitting in the chair. Appointment times allow room for those questions, rather than moving straight from one step to the next without a pause to check in.
The Team
Dr S Jenneker and Dr M Ismail work alongside Dr Baboo as part of the dental team at Braces Hub, while Roxane, Robyn and Sibu support the clinical team and look after patients at every step of their visit, from booking an appointment to settling into the chair. Together, they handle much of the day-to-day running of the practice, helping appointments run smoothly and making sure questions are answered, whether you are calling to book, checking on a treatment plan or simply asking what to expect at your next visit.
The familiar faces across the team are part of what makes Braces Hub feel like a practice you can return to for ongoing care, rather than somewhere you visit for a single appointment. For families with more than one person being treated at the practice, that continuity can make the experience feel more connected, with the same team there to support you from one visit to the next.
Why Choose Us
At Braces Hub, patients have access to orthodontic and general care in one practice, supported by Dr Baboo’s additional training in implantology and laser dentistry. Treatment is centred around careful planning, clear explanations and giving patients the opportunity to understand their options before moving forward.
The practice also incorporates modern dental technology where appropriate, including CBCT 3D imaging for detailed assessment and treatment planning, the MEDIT i900 intraoral scanner for creating digital 3D impressions of the teeth, and Waterlase iPlus laser technology for selected hard and soft tissue procedures.
Dr Baboo also maintains professional affiliations across several areas of dentistry, including:
- South African Dental Association (SADA)
- South African Society of Periodontology, Implantology and Oral Medicine
- International Team for Implantology (ITI)
- Megagen International Education and Clinical Research
- International Laser Society
- World Academy of Laser Education Dentistry (WALED)
Together, these qualifications, professional connections and technologies support a practice that can care for a wide range of dental needs, from braces and clear aligners to routine dentistry, dental implants and more involved procedures.
